VegetationIn Norway forest covers nearly one-fourth of the Norway's land area. Mainly deciduous forest are found in the coastal areas of southern and southwestern parts of Norway. To the east and north forest their are more conifers. Boreal coniferous forests are found in coastal regions and in the valleys of eastern and central Norway. In the highland areas and to far north their is a tundra climate. Were you can find mainly dwarf shrubs and wildflowers but the tundra is treeless. Their are about 2,000 flowering plants that grow in Norway.

ClimateNorway's climate shows great variations. From its southernmost point, Lindesnes, to its northernmost, North Cape, there is a span of 13 degrees of latitude, or the same as from Lindesnes to the Mediterranean Sea. Furthermore we have great variations in received solar energy during the year.
The largest differences we find in Northern Norway, having midnight sun in the summer months and no sunshine at all during winter. lAverage temperatures vary between -10°C in January in Spitzbergen and +16°C in July in Oslo. Precipitation in norway varies between 500 and 3000 mmm per year. the most rain falls along the coastal areas, less rain falls inland and in the eastern parts of Norway. |
